–As Dr Chidi Lloyd Promises To Integrate Members Of The Nigeria Legion Into Emolga Internal Security Outfit
As Nigerians mark the 2022 armed forces remembrance day across the country, the chairman of Emohua local government area, Dr Chidi Lloyd has disclosed his administration’s readiness to initiate a welfare program to improve the living standard of wives of Nigerian soldiers who died in the line of duty.
The council chairman made the disclosure in his address at the 2022 armed forces remembrance day celebration held at Emohua council secretariat on Saturday
Matching his words with action, Dr Lloyd directed his executive assistant on special duties, Hon Peter Wogbo to have wives of the fallen heroes across Emohua local government area documented, for proper implementation of the welfare program by the local government.
He said it is better to initiate a welfare program for women whose husbands died in active service than to allow non staff of the council to continue to receive salary from the common wealth of the people from the comfort of their homes.
Acknowledging the role played by members of the Nigerian Legion in keeping Nigeria together before, during and after the civil war, Dr Lloyd approved the integration of legionnaires from Emohua local government into the local government vigilante services, while the youngest amongst them will be deployed to the security unit of the local government council secretariat.
He further approved the provision of new uniforms for members of the Emohua local government chapter of the Nigerian Legion, promising to ensure that the legionnaires are carried along in the programs and activities of his administration.
Speaking further, Dr Lloyd commended security agencies for their contribution to the appreciable progress recorded in the ongoing fight against illegal oil bunkering activities which has been identified as the major cause of soot pandemic in Rivers State, stressing that the clear atmosphere experienced across Emohua local government area in the past few days was as a result of the collective effort of government and security agencies, in line with the directive of Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike who is working tirelessly to end soot pandemic in Rivers State.
The chairman of Emohua local government chapter of the Nigerian Legion, Major Chimezie Alegwu Ekuhule (Rtd) in his address commended the governor of Rivers State, HE Nyesom Ezenwo Wike and the chairman of Emohua local government area, Dr Chidi Lloyd for their support to the welfare of the legioniers, promising to provide all necessary support to the government in the fight against illegal oil bunkering and other criminal activities in Emohua local government area.
The 2022 armed forces remembrance day celebration which featured parade and laying of wreath at the cenotaph, Emohua council secretariat, had in attendance the vice chairman of Emohua local government area, Hon Mrs Edna Nyeche,the leader of Emohua legislative council, Hon Mrs Love Nyenke and members of the legislative council, the secretary to the local government, Chief Vincent Chukwu and members of the executive council, former chairman of Emohua LGA,Barr Emma Wonodi, chairman of PDP in Emohua LGA, Hon Uche Minikwu, chairman of Emohua PDP caucus committee, Eze Paul Wonodi, heads of security agencies, traditional rulers, wives of fallen heroes, principal officers of Emohua local government council and youth groups.
